A former RCMP clerk has been charged with criminal breach of trust and other charges in connection to the alleged theft of $173,000 from the Headingley Traffic Service Detachment, RCMP said today.
Kristina Marie Ostapowich, 31, is also charged with theft and fraud over $5,000.

RCMP in British Columbia have launched a new feature entitled ‘Setting the Record Straight’ on their media relations website.
In a media release issued by RCMP ‘E’ Division spokesman Staff Sgt. John Ward, police said they intend to use the for-the-record feature to elaborate on or clarify information published in the media.

OTTAWA — Members of the Commons public accounts committee say they fear senior Mounties covered up a nepotism scandal and the misappropriation of $3.1-million from the RCMP pension fund.
The evidence “looks bad” and the MPs are now wondering “was there a cover-up?” New Democrat David Christopherson said yesterday.
